UC Bearcats Football Schedule 2011

Wow, I can’t wait.  We can’t wait!  College Football.

The Ohio State University, no comment.  Former UC Defensive back Urban Meyer’s Florida Gator’s, no comment.  Can’t control what players are selling to high stake boosters, I get it.  Can’t see everything, Norte Dame look out!   Coach won quick, recruited well, 25 million reasons, father is a politician, look out.  Butch Jones, in a good position.

First impressions are everything.  At Tennessee, YIKES (btw thank coach Kelley).  Zach, we need another huge game.  Defense, please show up.  SEC is the gold standard of college football.

ACC redemption day, “NO SO FAST.”  Lee Corso can’t take the Pack on ESPN College Gameday.  Go Cats.

PBS for two games, Fan-Frickin-Tastic.

At Pitt, hard game no matter what.

The Orange will make it interesting, hopefully UConn game will be a play-in for the BCS bid.  Still no playoffs?  Can’t make everyone happy.

Coach Cronin Extension – University of Cincinnati Bearcats Basketball

Coach Cronin Extension – University of Cincinnati Bearcats Basketball

As reported by www.cincinnati.com the University of Cincinnati Bearcats have locked in their Men’s Basketball Coach, Mick Cronin, to a three year extension.  Many fans wanted Cronin out last year and they were waiting for the team to fail again this year so a new coach would come to town.  Cronin won us over slowly this season with a NCAA Tourney invite along with a NCAA Tourney win against Missouri.  At the time the UConn loss was hard to swallow (not to mention the committee forced two second round Big East meetings) until UConn went on to win it all.  I found myself backing both teams in the Finals.  Easy to back your own conference; easy to back the underdog.

We look forward to supporting Coach for years to come and the future should be great.  Talent coming back next year (Wright, Kilpatrick, Dixon, Gates, Jackson) and great recruits to debut soon!  GO CATS!

Exceeded Expectations – UC Bearcats Basketball

Exceeded Expectations

To start the season many (including myself) expected another mediocre year from the University of Cincinnati Men’s Basketball Team.  Mediocre meaning … bottom half of the Big East … another NIT appearance … no wins against top 25 teams.   Finished top half of the Big East with first round bye/second round win in the Big East Tourney  … NCAA Tourney appearance with huge win against Missouri (unmatched by red hot UConn in Second Round) … embarrassed Xavier in the Crosstown Blowout, rolled over Louisville, swept Georgetown, and an impressive win against Marquette (sweet 16 bound).  With raised expectations I’m looking forward to next season.  Until then, go Reds! … and football is right around the corner!

Gates Leads UC Bearcats against Hansbrough and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Gates Leads UC Bearcats against Hansbrough and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish

On paper this appears to be a meaningless Big East Tournament game between two teams who already have their tickets punched for the NCAA Tournament.  Both teams have much to play for, and the fans will be benefit by watching premium basketballl played in the Big East capital (MSG).

The University of Cincinnati Bearcats have come a long way this year starting off as an over-rated team who played a week non-conference schedule (they went perfect).  After the crosstown battle versus Xavier (a blow out win for the Cats) fans and people across the county slowly started to buy in.  Picked to finish 12th in the Big East, the Bearcats exceeded expectations again by finishing seventh, with impressive wins versus Louisville, St. Johns (road), Georgetown (twice) and Marquette (road) … not to mention the won every game they were supposed to.  Their worse RPI loss is against Villanova (admittedly the Cats seem to play top 40RPI teams, or the worst RPI teams ranked in the 300s).

The preception has changed and the Cats go from limping into the Big Dance to having an opportunity for a 5 or 6 seed, with hopes of making it to the Sweet Sixteen!  Beating Notre Dame will significantly increase their tourey seeding, while a Notre Dame win will make them step closer to earning a one seed!  Sit back and enjoy, I anticipate a close game and UC win if they can contain the permator and limit long offensive rebounds.   GO CATS!
